BVA’s communities, which include United Regional and Cape Air Virtual, give members the opportunity to explore BVA through organized flight operations. United Regional operates a simulated airline that stresses professionalism and team-based learning while Cape Air Virtual is a more traditional virtual airline that uses VAFS to assign and track pilot flights.

BVA sponsors these communities because we believe they contribute meaningfully to our server. However, we also welcome operations from virtual airlines, demonstration teams, and other organized groups on our server. This page is designed to provide more information for groups wishing to use our server, and those interested in advertising or affiliating with us.

Our Philosophy

BVA is successful today because of interactions between pilots and controllers. Everything we do has the ultimate objective of improving the quality and quantity of pilot-controller interactions. The more pilots and controllers are talking, the busier the session is, and the more enjoyable the experience is for our members.

Many pilot groups, including those at United Regional (UALR) and Cape Air Virtual (KAP), directly contribute to the pilot-controller interactions in our server. These groups are specifically structured to increase traffic and specific regulations ensure that members of both UALR and KAP fly within controlled airspace, fly on our server, and fly aircraft that are realistic enough to add to members’ experiences on BVA.

Use of BVA's Server by Non-Affiliated Groups

Non-affiliated groups refer to any organized group of pilots, formed either within the community or externally, that use or seek to use BVA’s server. These groups may include but are not limited to virtual airlines, military demonstration teams, search and rescue groups.  We welcome the use of our server by any group as long as all group members using our server are also members of BVA.

BVA wishes to protect the enjoyment of our members by limiting advertisements on our server (including our website and forums). Consequently, while non-affiliated groups are welcome to enjoy the benefits of our server, advertising for non-affiliated groups is prohibited. This means that a non-affiliated group cannot use our website, forums, server (including chat functions of FlightDesk and FSX) to advertise or promote their operations. Using specific call signs is okay, but sending indiscriminate or unilateral messages is unacceptable. Be reasonable about how you operate; if you are here only to "steal" members from BVA to bolster your group, we don't want you here.

Becoming an Affiliated Community

If you are interested in partnering with BVA (and thus receiving the benefit of advertising on our website and the ability to contact our members), consider the elements of our philosophy that have made us successful thus far. If you believe your group will contribute meaningfully to the quality and quantity of pilot-controller interactions, we would love to hear from you.

We are serious about protecting the quality of our server. Especially if you would like to affiliate a virtual airline with us, we will be looking to ensure that you have the best interests of our members in mind. Virtual airlines that encourage flights that depart controlled airspace, allow flights to be conducted offline, are incentivized purely on hours, or seek to draw our members away from the community are of no interest to us.

If you believe your group will contribute to our community, please contact us. We’d be happy to discuss your proposal further.
